From X in the Red Sea

This a live story from X, as originally told to us -- and with his authorization to publish :-) -- to blow your mind !

It started with a brief email from X:
" 20mn of safety stop (one will have to think about the meaning of "safety":-) with three longimanus...
encounter with an entangled/injured manta.
happy bubbles!! "

... and astonishing pictures (here's one):

After further enquiries we got the full story... Here it is for your delight :

"Well, i'm not just sending you pictures I picked up on websites you know... :-)

To start from the begining, I've been on safari for two weeks, down south, real close to Sudan, where only a few boats go, few divers, great diving!!! :-)

I knew for a long time now that I loved safaris, but with Dune ... a big french dive company, they are still "french" and didn't forget about how important food is!! Anyway if the cook provides bad food he'll be the first to go in the water and there is plenty sharks to be fed around... :-)

How to explain...a life aboard, you sleep, eat, dive and start over and over again...Until your computer starts to complain... as I already mentioned the food was great, the sleeping was (still) alone but confortable and of great use, and when it comes to the diving... WAOW!!!

Out of the 30+ dives of the two weeks at least four are in my top ten. the water was 27° and rising (didn't get cold once in two weeks with sometimes four dives a day!! even with my super shity wetsuit :-), reefs are pristine and I have loads of new stories to tell...

...I've been charged by a 2m grey reef shark and saved by a dolphin "out of the blue", so to speak... From delight to fear to relief in less than a minute...

...Saved (or put an end to the suffering of) a manta ray that came right at me!! :-) 4minutes I'll never forget!! ...

...Spent 20' of "safety stop" circled by 3 longimanus, cruising under the boat for three fucking days!! ...

..."lost" the reef after chasing some hammerheads in the blue and ended updrifting on the surface way behind the boat, for a while, in a big swell... with two guests... I shouldn't be very proud about that one... but you know... currents, exitement... hum... we spent 45' snorkeling in an orgie of about 200 dolphins... fucking unbelievable!!! :-)

...We had sharks on almost every dives even and most frightfuly at night!!

So, I'm now off for a couple of days, trying to off gas and come back down to planet earth...

peace & respect, x

NB: The pictures were taken by the divers/guests I was guiding/diving with."
