jogging diary
As jogging is quite an important activity for both Agnes and myself, we figured that we ought to share that in some way with people we know. Advanced technology makes it all possible... :) A sprinkle of Nokia N95, Sports Tracker (Java app) and Google Maps, et voilĂ .
Soon: Competition between Agnes and Bjoern! For now, the excerpts below are copyright Bjoern.
Run the 2nd of December, from our home to North Narrabeen beach and back:

A good day for Australia. Our newly elected PM lost no time in ratifying the Kyoto protocol which set things in motion for us to join in the next couple of weeks. Here the link to they Sydney Morning Heralds article.

Trust in our friends in America
I am more and more hopeful that there are enough candidates in the US presidential campaign on both ends of the lane that would have the courage to turn this country around. Agnes and I were very moved by the following video that was posted on YouTube by Republican congressman Ron Paul (and please read further below this video for a strong case to become active politically).
While there are glimpses of hope I cherish and hold onto like a small beacon of light in an otherwise pitch black night, I do at the same time also want to send out a word of warning to ones close to us who are (currently) living in the states. As a German I almost instinctively felt that something shifted on 9/11. A feeling of dread that was very unusual for my normally very optimistic outlook on life and the world at large, always having firmly believed in the innate goodness of humanity. But since that day I feel that something wrong and evil has been creeping into the ether. Monstrosities that were committed that should never happen again on this planet... and I sincerely believe that it would make this world a better place if the American people would stand up against opression, loss of freedom and liberties and wars that are without cause but being fought in the name of freedom and their country.
Naomi Wolf does a better job than I ever could at making the case that the time is NOW... and might I add that people living in America right now - like our dear friends - could be asked to stand up for what is RIGHT and against wrongs even before the election in 2008...
With lots of love and the best of all thoughts in my heart,
Bjoern
